Fast and Slow
This model is the final iteration of a 7-week study on the words fast and slow. We started off with the concepts of the words by taking photographs of spaces that we felt encapsulated one of the two words over multiple iterations. We converted these photos into drawings and the drawings into three-dimensional models. This piece was the final iteration that emulated both fast and slow. It is split by a sheet of black acrylic. The flowing motion of air around a wing of a plane was the final inspiration for fast. The slow side came from the idea of confinement and being held in place. This piece uses the area right between the acrylic as a transitional space where the rigidness becomes relaxed and starts to flow into steam-bended basswood.
